Esther Marie Tate, 69, of Mt. Hope, passed away on Wednesday, November 11, 2020. Born October 12, 1951 in Norfolk, VA she was the daughter of the late Rudolf Arthur and Peggy Lloyd Arthur. Besides her parents Marie is preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Margaret Tate. Marie worked as a sales associate at JCPenney for over 14 years. Survivors include her husband of 45 years, James A. Tate, Sr.; sons, James A. Tate, Jr. and his wife Emily of Beckley and Joseph W. Tate and his wife Stephanie of Beckley; grandchildren, Jack Frost Tate, Alex Tate and Reina Tate; brothers, Rudy Arthur and his wife Patricia of Grandview and Robert Arthur of Bradley; sister, Margie Donice Gernhardt of Bradley, nephews, Michael Gernhardt and Jessie Tate; nieces, Leila Tate, Katy Tate, Sarah Gernhardt and Meaghan Ewing and her husband Aaron; father-in-law, Donald Tate of Maple Fork; brother-in-law, Donnie Tate; friends, Aida Glordon and Tina Marcus along with numerous other family and friends.
