Darius, the son of SSgt Leonard B. (USMC deceased) and Meredith Brown Peterson, was born September 5, 1971 in Bethesda, MD.  He grew up in the Washington, DC and Philadelphia, PA metropolitan areas, before moving to Greensboro, NC in 1982.

While attending Walter Hines Page Senior High School in Greensboro, Darius was a member of the baseball team and played outfield and "cleanup hitter" positions.

Darius inherited a talent for retail sales from his father and worked in a number of retail roles in the Greater Durham and Triangle areas.

At the time of his death, Darius worked for Spectrum™, as a Retail Specialist in Raleigh, NC.

In addition, he and his wife were innovative entrepreneurs who launched "Bartending Unlimited" in 2004.

"Bartending Unlimited", a hospitality company, delivers high-end "mobile" beverage services for clients across the Mid-Atlantic States. Darius was extremely proud of the Company's accomplishments.
