Colleen Marie Storey Obituary

WATCH LIVE FUNERAL STREAM HERE (11:00 AM - MST)

Our loving mother, Colleen Marie Lucas was born on September 7, 1939 in Ione, CA, to Omer Porter Lucas and Jeannette Caroline Clark. She joined brother, Gayle, sister Frances, and brother Lawrence (Bud).

She was schooled in rural Sacramento County. Tragically, her mother died when Colleen was only four years old. At age 15, she moved to Coos Bay, Oregon with her father, when he moved there to remarry. She graduated from Marshfield High School in June 1958. She attended Oregon Technical Institute in Klamath Falls, OR where she graduated in June 1959 as a certified Dental Assistant.

She married Gale Allan Nelson in March 1960. They settled in Sacramento, CA, where they had a set of twin girls and a baby boy. Unfortunately, this union ended in divorce in 1962. She moved back to Coos Bay with the three babies, where she found a job as a dental assistant. At church, she was introduced to Stanley Roscoe Storey, and they met and married in Hawaii in 1967. She went on to have three more children.

After living in Hawaii, they relocated to Oregon where they lived in various communities through the years, including Portland, The Dalles, Redmond, and Bend. After a brief stint in Las Vegas, they lived for many years in Tonopah, NV. She and Mr. Storey divorced after 16 years of marriage and she eventually moved to her final home in Pleasant Grove, UT.

She worked various jobs through the years, including dental assistant, dairy milk quality tester, convenience store manager, and housing clerk at the Tonopah Test Range at the Nevada Test Site. In later life, she picked up certifications as a medical lab assistant and as a massage therapist.

Colleen valued and taught a strong work ethic. She promoted the importance of an advanced education to her family. She taught self-reliance. She enjoyed traveling and collected spoons from places she or her family visited around the world. She was artistic and creative. She loved her dogs and cats.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was committed and served faithfully in all callings and assignments. She left this earthly sphere on Friday, November 13, 2020. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Colleen is survived by her six children: Diana Nixon, Provo, UT; Delaine (Art Harms), Orem, UT; Dean (Lisa) Nelson, Metlakatla, AK; Katie Storey, Kennewick, WA; Karen (Kurt Anderson), Pleasant Grove, UT; and Katherine (Darin Bronson), West Valley City, UT. She loved her family and was especially fond of all of her grandchildren. She has 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was so proud of her posterity.

Private services will be held Saturday, November 21, 2020. Family and friends are welcome to join us for Colleen’s graveside services at approximately 12: 45 p.m. in the Orem City Cemetery.  Social distancing and masks are required.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
