Dennis Lee Griffin Obituary

For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. II Timothy 4:6-8 Dennis Lee Griffin, at sixty-one years of age, went home to be with his Lord Monday afternoon. A native of Wayne County, Dennis was born on January 27, 1959, to the late Allen Joseph Griffin and Ruby Inez Sullivan Griffin. He owned and operated the family business, Griffin Exterminating Company, located in Goldsboro and New Bern. Dennis possessed both a strong work ethic and a generous heart. His friendly spirit welcomed many people into his life, and his love for laughter and fun spread to those around him. As a man of incredible faith in God, he held hope for the world and practiced a love for others. A member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church, he faithfully served in their bus ministry. However, his greatest joy came through sharing God's Word as a member of the Gideons. The family will receive friends from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2020, in the fellowship hall of Faith Free Will Baptist Church. A service to celebrate Dennis’s life will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary with Pastor Dann Patrick, Pastor Walter Sloan, and Pastor Christian Powell officiating. Interment will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 20, 2020, in Wayne Memorial Park. Dennis is survived by his wife, Vicky Price Griffin; son, Clifton Griffin and wife, Jeana; daughter, Amber Wilkins and husband, Jeff; step-son, Chris Lee and wife, Teresa; sister, Mary Jo Dudley and husband Ricky; fourteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and another grandchild due in March 2021. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Griffin and step-daughter, Jana Michelle Lee. Dennis requested memorials be given for Bibles through the Gideons, P.O. Box 10093, Goldsboro, NC 27530 or to Faith Free Will Baptist Church,1200 W. Grantham Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
