Janis Lee Pope, 86, of Cresaptown, MD, died Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at Sterling Care at Frostburg Village, Frostburg, MD. Born February 2, 1934, in Cumberland, MD, she was the daughter of the late Harry George and Thelma Margaret (Cecil) Lee. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Scott Pope and one sister, Virginia Smith. Mrs. Pope was a cashier and greeter at K-Mart and a cashier for 5 years at Walmart. She was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, ladies group and choir member. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Cresaptown Eagle, Aerie 2883, Woodmen of the World, Lodge 41, where she was a State Jurisdictional Officer, Trustee and Past President; and also a member of Woodmen of the World, Lodge 6, Cumberland. Janis was a Class of 1952 graduate from Allegany High School and was the corresponding secretary, having worked on each of their 22 class reunions. She is survived by one daughter, Cheryl M. Feaster; one sister, Charlene (David) Winter; two grandchildren, Sarah Elder and Cody Feaster; two great-grandchildren, Colton and Landyn Elder. A private graveside service will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery with the Rev. Dan Agnew officiating. Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, MD, is assisting the family with arrangements.
