Alfred Anthony Cabaniss Obituary

Alfred Anthony Cabaniss, Jr. 96, of Hobe Sound, Florida, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 15, 2020, at his home under hospice care. He was born in Akron, Ohio to Alfred and Anna Cabaniss, the oldest of five boys. Alfred was raised in Akron and was signed into the Merchant Marines at age 17. He switched to the United States Navy a year later and served as the ship’s chef during World War II. Upon an honorable discharge, he married the love of his life, Margaret Micale. He was called back to the Navy in 1951 and served for one year during the Korean War. The two started married life by taking a big jump from Ohio to San Bernardino, California in 1963. Alfred worked in sales as a decorator in San Bernadino, California. Although they did not have children they had a life filled with friends, nieces/nephews, neighbors, and coworkers. They enjoyed life and each other's company, traveling and cruising around the world together. They have spent just shy of 75 years together. Retirement brought the two to Hobe Sound, FL in 1993. Alfred was a member of St. Christopher's Catholic Church and enjoyed playing and watching golf. Alfred was predeceased by his parents and brothers. He is survived by many special nieces/nephews, great-nieces, and nephews and his caretaker and kind of like a daughter, Laura Cancio of Hobe Sound, FL. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 19 from 10:00 – 11:30 am at All County Funeral Home, 1010 NW Federal Hwy, Stuart, FL. A military honors ceremony will occur at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Treasure Coast Hospice. In an abundance of caution and under the CDC recommendations, we are asking all attendees to assist in implementing appropriate social distancing measures and it is recommended that all in attendance wear a face-covering.
