James Daniel Thompson SR, age 72, of Pevely, MO passed away on November 12, 2020 at John Cochran VA Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was born on January 22, 1948 in Cape Girardeau, MO; son of Merrill M. Thompson and Delaphine (Johnson) Thompson. Jim served his country proudly as a sergeant in the Army. He was part of the 11th Armored Calvary, Black Horse Alumni, Order of the Purple Heart, the NRA, and Paralyzed Veterans of America. Survivors include his wife Carolyn Thompson of Pevely, MO, sons James “Danny” Daniel Thompson JR (Dixie) of Sedgewickville MO, Michael “Shane” Thompson (Amy) of Fruitland, MO, Kevin Byerley (Chloe’) of St. Louis, MO, Mark Byerley (Krissy) of Festus, MO, and daughter Karen Sides (Matt) of Herculaneum, MO, thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several brothers, Bob Thompson of Oak Ridge, MO, Billy Thompson of Marion, IL, Raymond Thompson of Memphis, TN, David Thompson of Morley, MO, Gary Thompson of Memphis, TN, Jeff Thompson of Marble Hill, and sisters Betty Brown, Judy Sproles both of Nashville, TN, and Linda McBride of Dyersburg, TN. Jim was Preceded in death by his parents, first wife Ida Marie, and sisters Ruth Ann Miller and Patricia Faircloth. Visitation will be at Little Whitewater Church on Saturday November 21st, 2020 at 9:30AM until time of service. Funeral Service will be Saturday November 21st, 2020 at 11:30AM with Rev. Don Estes, Rev. Donnie Ford, Rev. Jim Collins, and Rev. Don Slatten officiating. Burial will follow in the Thompson Cemetery near Gordonville, MO.
