Val Dee Rasmussen

<p>Val Dee Rasmussen, 77, of Pleasant Grove, Utah passed away peacefully on November 16, 2020. He was born on September 24, 1943 in Centerfield, Utah to Burton and Violet Rasmussen. He was the youngest of 5 children.</p> <p>Val honorably served his country as a medic in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany for 18 months. He was fluent in the German language where it counted, ordering beer.</p> <p>He loved watching sports especially when the Cubs were playing. Val enjoyed playing any kind of Mario game but playing Super Mario Brothers with his family was one of his favorite activities. He enjoyed spending time outdoors camping at &quot;The property&quot; and planting his garden full of peas and tomatoes.</p> <p>When his kids and grandkids were growing up, he always had his night stand drawer full of candy and black licorice to spoil them. He also had a big bowl of popcorn to share while watching television. Westerns were a favorite for him and he owned most if not all of John Wayne&#39;s movies.</p> <p>Val had a hidden sense of humor his family came to love and expect. He taught his children and grandchildren the language of sarcasm which they use well. Val&#39;s subtle sense of humor brought laughter to his family, friends, and those who came to know him during his time spent in the hospital.</p> <p>Val is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, his son Christian and 2 grandchildren Brandon and Bryson. He is survived by his wife Pauline, children Natalie (Dan) Andersen, Valerie (Roger) Shelton, Kendra (Blake&quot;Meathead&quot;) Sorensen, Julie Naylor, Arden Christensen, Jennie (Ron) DeMill, Justin (Rachel) Rasmussen,Tawnya (Tee) Carter, 24 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.</p> <p>A celebration of life and graveside service for Val will be held at a later date.</p> <p>Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
