James "Jim" Douglas Flaningam Obituary

James “Jim” Flaningam, 91, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away November 16, 2020. Jim was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana, on August 31, 1929. Jim was a proud Navy veteran, he enlisted the United States Navy at the age of 18 and served his country for 30 years. With his military experience, he was able to travel all around the US, Morocco, Guam and Japan. When he finished his Naval career, he decided to make Pensacola his home. Him enjoyed playing golf, bowling and crossword puzzles. He was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan and friend of Bill W. for over 40 years. Jim was preceded in death by his wives Judy Kay and Christina; daughter, Margaret and son, William. He is survived by his sons, Samuel, Thomas, Joseph (Melanie), John (Joni), his children’s mother, Barbara Flaningam; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, November 23, 2020, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South. Graveside Service will be Tuesday, November 24, at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola. The Funeral Procession will leave Faith Chapel South at 10:30 AM for Barrancas National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Samuel Flaningam, Joseph Flaningam, John Flaningam, Colton Flaningam, Jimmy Lawson and Tom Jones. The family would like to extend a special thank you to friends, Karen and Tommy Jones, for their support over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Life Care Center of Pensacola, Covenant Hospice or The Waterford at Carpenter’s Creek Assisted Living.
