February 24, 1932 - Ethelbert, Manitoba - November 6, 2020 - Calgary, Alberta

Jean Michaleski (nee Trohubiak) beloved wife of the late Walter Michaleski passed away peacefully Friday,
November 6, 2020 at the age of 88 years.

She was born February 24, 1932 in Ethelbert, Manitoba to Mary and Nick Trohubiak. Jean moved to Dauphin to work
at the Elite Cafe where she met Walter who she married in 1951. Walter being a railroader was away for long periods
of time. Jean being the strong woman that she was, rallied and took in stride, raising 5 children while working various
jobs, including being known as the Avon Lady.
Jean and Walter loved their cabin in Waterhen and fishing for pickerel. Jean was the first to catch a Master Angler
Award Pickerel and she held that over Walter until he finally caught his. They were encouraged by Calgary family to
move to High River in 1997 where they enjoyed many games of golf and family gatherings. They moved to Calgary
after the devastating flooding of High River in 2013.
Jean was known for her amazing Ukrainian fare and her endless energy. She would try everything and to the delight
of her family produced feasts like no other. Jean was a mentor to her family with her kind and loving heart. Her
legacy and traditions will be carried on by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her 5 children. Angela (Darcy) Clarkson of Vancouver, B.C., Bob (Michele) Michaleski, Pat (Bill)
Hall, Marcie (Kim) Hubick, Karen (Dugald) MacKay all of Calgary, AB. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 5
great grandchildren. Carla and Ben Crowe, Jenny Michaleski and Chris Chornohos (Alenna and Alek), Missy
Clarkson and Ed Pitt-Brooke (Arlo), Becca Clarkson, Colin and Nicole Brandt (Ryan), Kyle Hubick and Megg Burton
(Oslo), Reid Hubick, Bryan Michaleski and Kaylee Michaleski.
Jean was predeceased by brothers (Walter and Steve), step brothers (Ned, Mike and Harry) and sister Stella. She is
survived by sisters Ann Bodnaruk, Vernon, B.C. and Sylvia (Jerry) Dutchyshen, Dauphin, Manitoba and sisters-in-law
Marilyn Troback, Regina, Saskatchewan and Margaret Troback of Hamilton, Ontario. She will also be missed by
Frank (Olive) Michaleski, Dauphin, Manitoba and Cliff (Rose) Milko, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
At Jean’s request there will be no funeral service.
