John A. McNeal, 82, of Benton, Illinois passed away at 3:20 a.m., Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at the DuQuion Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in DuQuoin. John was born July 14, 1938 in Beckley, West Virginia to Albert and Bonnie (Kelly) McNeal. He married Barbara June Griffin September 9, 1961 in Zeigler. She preceded him in death August 21, 2013. He is survived by three daughters Beth Todd (Douglas) of Bradenton, FL, Terrah (Bill) Peterson of Norfolk, VA, Rebecca (Wayne) McNeal of Zeigler; two sons, Michael (Diane) McNeal of Goreville and John (Larry) McNeal, II of St. Petersburg, FL; eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren; two sisters, Linda Clark Royalton and Ernestine Bird of Herrin. Mr. McNeal was a retire coal miner, an Army veteran and was a former minister at the Apostolic Faith Tabernacle in McLeansboro. Private family services will be held at a later date.
