Gary Wayne Ferguson

<p>Gary Wayne Ferguson Sr., 47, of North Vernon, passed away at 5:00 a.m. on Monday, November 16, 2020, at his residence.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Born October 8, 1973, in Seymour, he was the son of Nancy Joan Chastain Smith and the late Donald Ray Ferguson Sr. He married Tina Philpot on November 22, 1992 at the First Apostolic Church in North Vernon; she survives.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Gary was a 1992 graduate of Jennings County High School and an EMT graduate of Ivy Tech Community College. He worked for Stone Container for two years and as team leader and machine operator for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus for ten years. Gary was a member of ABATE and the River of Life Church, and he spent several years with the Jonesville Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed target shooting; motorcycles, especially Harley Davidsons; hunting and fishing; camping; hiking; riding 4-wheelers; and playing the guitar.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Surviving with his wife, Tina Ferguson of North Vernon, are his son, Gary Wayne (Amanda) Ferguson Jr. of North Vernon; daughter, Chelsey (Anthony) Nochim of Louisville, Kentucky; mother, Nancy Joan (Eugene) Smith of Jonesville; stepmom, Grace Ferguson of Columbus; brothers, Donald Ray &ldquo;Buddy&rdquo; (Kellie) Ferguson Jr. of Columbus and Rev. Chris (Penny) Ferguson of Linton; twin sister, Shannon Diane (Christian) Anderson of North Vernon; and grandchildren, Zion Bella Nochim and Garrison Nochim, both of Louisville, Kentucky.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>He was preceded in death by his father.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2020, at Dove-Sharp &amp; Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with the Rev. Chris Ferguson officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Hayden Cemetery in Hayden.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Memorials may be made in honor of Gary through the funeral home to help with expenses.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>In compliance with CDC COVID-19 guidelines, only 50 people will be allowed in the funeral home at a time. We thank our families for their continued cooperation during these difficult times as we strive to help keep our community safe. Masks are required.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

Gary Wayne Ferguson Sr., 47, of North Vernon, passed away at 5:00 a.m. on Monday, November 16, 2020, at his residence.

 

Born October 8, 1973, in Seymour, he was the son of Nancy Joan Chastain Smith and the late Donald Ray Ferguson Sr. He married Tina Philpot on November 22, 1992 at the First Apostolic Church in North Vernon; she survives.
