Layla R Horton Obituary

Layla Rachelle Horton July 29, 1993-November 10, 2020 Layla lived her early years in Vader WA with her parents Scott and Lesa. This is where she met her first friend, sometimes the sister she never wanted, Piper. In 1997 she got her first brother, Spencer. She loved being a big sister, most of the time. In 1999 her brother Gage was born. Always the baby to her.

She attended Vader schools through the 8th grade. While there she was active in Winlock soccer program, Girl Scouts, youth church, and other social activities. She was the Vader May Day Queen. Layla enjoyed spending time at Long Beach, and Hoods Canal with her grandparents. Her summers were filled with camping and swimming at Leisure Time with many close friends.

Layla attended Mossyrock High School, graduating in 2011. She was always surrounded by friends. Always laughing and up for an adventure... until she got there, then she usually wanted to go home. She played a few sports, mostly in the interest of being a joiner. She was always a little stubborn, and always doing her own thing. She was especially close with her mom.

Layla started working at the Pioneer with her grandma when she was 15. Excited to be able to use her driving permit to drive them both to work. Eventually it turned into a real job, where she worked for 12 years. Her customers and co-workers were always glad to see her at work with her smile and witty sense of humor. She will undoubtedly be missed by them all.

She was independent and loved animals. Her mom was very fond of saying that with Layla “the novelty of waking up every day and doing whatever she wanted was just never going to wear off”, and it never did.

She loved her family! Later acquiring a sister Jocelyn, two more brothers, Ryley and Remington, and a very supportive stepdad Ryan. Layla also had two sister in laws, Chelsea and Yuri. She was delighted at the idea of being the naughty fun aunt one day!

She leaves behind so many people that loved her. She will be missed by everyone that knew her.

In lieu of flowers, Layla would love to see donations made to the Lewis County Animal Shelter.

A graveside ceremony for immediate family and a few close friends has been scheduled for November 21st, 1 p.m. at Swofford Cemetery.
