Shirley Ann Green Woods, 76, of Topeka, KS, passed away on November 10, 2020. She was born on October 7, 1944 to Rev. Louis Green and Doretha Ledbetter Green in Muskogee, OK where she lived until she was five years old. The family relocated to Topeka, KS in 1949 to be closer to family. Reverend Green later became pastor of the True Vine Missionary Baptist Church where she accepted Christ at an early age. She was a dedicated member of the True Vine Missionary Baptist Church. During her tenure as a member, Shirley held many positions, including serving on the Usher Board, Chairmen of the Kitchen Committee, Director of Baptist Training Union, Chairman of Men and Women Day, Youth Director, and she was very active in the Mission Department both at True Vine and Kaw Valley District. She was awarded Youth Director of the year by Kaw Valley District Youth Department.


Shirley attended Topeka High School and was a graduate of Clark Business School. After graduation, she worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield before moving on to Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation services, where she retired after 32 years of services.


She met the love of her life, Lorenzo Woods, and spent 25 year of blissful marriage before his passing in 2019. Their love created a beautiful blended family and a lifetime of happiness.


Shirley is preceded in death by her father Reverend L. E. Green; mother, Doretha E. Green and siblings, Floretta Harris (Rev. John Harris), Doris Miller (Rev. D.D. Miller), Louis Green (Virgiline), Martha, Samuel and David Green (Carolyn).


She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Jolene Green; grand-daughter NeShaundra Green; and her “Man,” great-grandson Kayden Green, all of Topeka, KS; her sister, Anita Green of Topeka, KS; brother, Milton Carr, Sr. (Brenda) of Topeka KS, sister-in-law, Maudenna Woods-Burke of Atlanta, GA; special sister, Mother Mary Jo Anderson of Topeka, KS. She also loved and leaves behind her bonus children, Adrian Green (LaTosha) of Topeka, KS, KaMaya Green Gibson (Billy) of Oklahoma City, OK, Severino Woods of Phoenix, AZ, Leesha Moore of Topeka, KS, Lorenzo Woods, Jr. (Lisa) of Wichita, KS, Rev. Orlando Woods (Ledora) of Kansas City, MO, Val Haggerty (Ron) of Topeka, KS, Elli Scroggins of Topeka, KS, and Damita Johnson of Topeka KS, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
