Manoochehr Mike Lotfali Obituary

Manoochehr (Mike) Lotfali

Manoochehr (Mike) Lotfali passed away in the early hours of November 7th in North Vancouver after a long illness. His son-in- law Rick Steele was at his bedside.

Mike was born in Tehran, Iran in 1937 where he grew up with his siblings, married and started a family.  He was an export import coordinator with Allied International.   In 1976 the family left Iran just before the revolution and made their way to Canada settling in Pitt Meadows BC as pioneers of the Baha’i faith.

He was a strong and loving father, always there to support his children in good times and troubled times.   Mike was a devout Baha’i and brought up his children Moni, Alice and Kamal in the faith.  He would say “As long as there is blood pumping through my veins I am with you”.  His children’s friends admired him as did his step-grandchildren. They remember him fondly for all the celebrations they shared together with good Persian food often cooked by Mike.  He was a staunch friend and it has been said of him that “he was impeccable with his conduct, dress and words.” Mike was selfless and found many ways to be of service to humanity. He was one of the kindest men one could ever meet, always interested in people and with a smile for everyone. He will be remembered for his love of laughter, of dancing and he sang with a beautiful, richly resonant voice especially when he chanted Baha’i prayers.

Mike will be remembered lovingly  by his children Moni (Rick Steele), Alice and Kamal, his grandchildren, Talissa (Cody ), Braydon, Elizabeth,  Adrial, Skye-Marie, Darius and four step- grandchildren.  Mike will be sadly missed by his brothers Casey Lotfali (Minou), Iraj Lotfijou (Fereshteh) and sister

Iran (Dr Shahidian), the Steele family, and many other family members and friends.

Due to COVID regulations the graveside ceremony was limited to immediate family only.  It took  place in Maple Ridge Cemetery at 11am  November 13th.

There will be a virtual Memorial Service / Celebration of Life which will be announced at a later date.

The family thanks all those who have sent so many beautiful flowers. Mike was always taking care of people and was a generous man. If you care to make a donation to a food bank, shelter for the homeless or any other similar organization of your choice, in lieu of flowers, that too would be greatly appreciated.
