David E. Mahan

David “Dave” Mahan, 73, passed away on November 14th, 2020 after a brief illness with family at his side. He was preceded in death by his father, Dwight Mahan, and mother, Gertrude Mahan. He is survived by his loving wife Vickie and they had just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in October. He is also survived by son Chris Atchley (Jenn); sister Kathy Elliott (Walt) and Lorri Sibley (David); brother-in-law Dan Beuster (Linda) and many nieces and nephews. Dave was born in Long Beach, CA and raised in the San Diego area. He graduated from San Diego State University prior to launching a 40 year career in banking during which time he held several senior positions. He was the Senior Vice President and Chief Loan Officer for La Cumbre Savings Bank (1986-1989), Santa Barbara, CA, Owner/Broker of Southwest Home Loans (1989-1996), and Executive Vice President and Chief Loan Officer at Affinity Bank, Ventura, CA (1996- 2009). Dave finished his career as Senior Vice President/Special Asset Manager at Mission Community Bank, San Luis Obispo, CA. In his professional life he served on many boards including the RMA International Board of Directors. Dave and Vickie enjoyed many years of travel and adventure together, with Hawaii being a favorite vacation spot. Dave retired to Tellico Village in Loudon, TN from Ojai/Santa Barbara in 2013. An avid boater, he loved sailing but traded the Pacific Ocean for a pontoon boat on Tellico Lake. He became the Bursar of the Tellico Cruising Club shortly after arriving in Tellico Village. At the time of his death he was the President of T-BART (Tellico Boaters Assistance Response Team). Dave enjoyed time on the lake, on the golf course, on the deck by the fire and a fun evening of hand & foot with their many friends. Due to COVID, no services are planned. All are encouraged to remember and honor Dave in their own way. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to T-BART c/o John Hirzel, Treasurer, 403 Catoosa Lane, Loudon, TN 37774.
