Obituary

Rudy Pete Riva 71 of Kincaid, IL went to be with the Lord and his loving wife Marilyn and son Tony on November 13th 2020 at 8:23pm at Memorial Hospital in Springfield IL with his two sons by his side. Rudy was born to John Pete Riva and Wreatha (Redfern) Riva on July 19th, 1949.  He graduated high school from Kincaid, IL in 1967 and then went on to Grier Technical College in Chicago IL for Automotive Mechanics.  He worked at Borg Warner as a mechanic and then started working at the Coal Mines as an electrician.  He ended his career as an electrician with US Steel where he retired in 2015.  As in much of his life, hard work was just his nature, so he began part time work driving for the Senior Citizens of Taylorville and mowing lawns for the city of Kincaid.  He married the love of his life Marilyn (Emerson) Riva on October 25, 1968 in Edinburg, IL. They had three sons Rudy P Riva Sr, Tony L Riva and Erin P Riva.

Rudy is known most for his work ethic, family values, and lifelong friendships.  He was talented in more ways than you could count, from having his own one man band, to being able to fix anything and everything.  It was known by family if “Rudy can’t fix it no one can”. He never met a stranger and if he did they weren’t one for long, and most of the time they became lifelong friendships.  There was never a moment he was not on the go and living life to its very fullest.  To say he will be missed is an understatement.

He is survived by his eldest son Rudy P (Jennifer) Riva of Belleville, IL and his youngest son Erin P (Gina) Riva of Palm Coast, FL. Two Siblings sister Vicki (Don) Henley of Springfield, IL and brother Wesley (Sheila) Riva of Taylorville, IL.  Five grandchildren Jeffrey and Nikole Riva of Belleville, IL, Alison Riva of Tovey, IL, Jordan (Anthony) Midgett and Jacob Smith of Palm Coast, FL and one great grandchild Remyngtin Riva Midgett of Palm Coast, FL. Sister in laws Dorothy (Harold) Emerson of Springfield, IL and Sharon (Rick Smith) of Taylorville, IL; Brother-in-Law: Ronald “Dale” Emerson of Canada.  His companion Laura Agrippino, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents John P and Wreatha Riva of Kincaid, IL and his late loving wife of 43 years Marilyn Riva and his son Tony Riva.

Private Family Services will be held at a later date where he will be laid to rest with his loving wife.  Cards and flowers can be sent to the family through Sutton Memorial Home.
