Gary A Lynk

Gary A. Lynk Sr., of Rockville died January 29 at home surrounded by his family. Gary was born in Tracy, Minnesota to Delbert and Beatrice Lynk on July 22, 1941. Gary is survived by his wife Anne Hartman Lynk and their five children: Gary Lynk Jr. (Jessica), of Rockville; Leigh Hansen (Tim), of Crown Point, Indiana; John Lynk (Susan), of Crown Point, Indiana; John Rockhill (Barbara) of Valparaiso, Indiana and Carey Gush (Alan) of Hanover, Pennsylvania. Gary was the beloved Papa of eleven grandchildren- Aubrey Hansen Salmi (Gavin), Emily Anne Gush, Sydney Gush, Mandie Hansen (Tyler Campion) , Johnny Lynk, Max Hansen, Noah Rockhill, Grayson Lynk, Karly Gush, Benjamin Lynk, Erin Rockhill and one great granddaughter, Delaney Anne Hansen. Other survivors are siblings Dixie Argentine, Beverly Hoover, Robert Lynk, and Dorothy Turner. Brothers Clive Lynk and Duane Lynk preceded him in death. Gary attended Hammond Technical High School and proudly served our country in the U. S. Army. He was a charter member of Millwright Local 1043 in Hobart, Indiana. As a construction millwright, he traveled the country building steel mills, nuclear power plants, auto plants, paper mills and supervised the building of many large construction projects. His memberships include the Bloomingdale Masonic Lodge, 32nd Degree, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite and Zorah Shrine. Of special importance to him was providing transportation for children to the Shrine Children's Hospitals for free health care. He also gave his time coaching Little League and Girls' Softball, Cub Scout den leader, mentoring students and helping with art classes. He shined as a baker of cheesecakes and pumpkin pies which he often shared with others. He loved travel and especially enjoyed time spent in Greece where he made many friends regardless of any language barrier. The Terre Haute Symphony brought him special joy where he loved the music and enjoyed symphony friends. Services will be Saturday, February 4 at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W Howard St, Rockville IN. Visitation is from 1:00 to 4:00. Masonic rites and Memorial service led by Rev. Jack Hopkins will follow at 4:00 P.M. Memorials can be sent to benefit the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N Rocky Point Drive, Tampa FL 33607, please state in Memory of Gary Lynk Sr. for the St. Louis Hospital.
