Melissa D. Normann, 55, of Plattsburgh, NY passed away on Saturday November 14, 2020 at UVHN CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Warwick, NY on November 6, 1965 the daughter of William and Judith (Luft) Duryea. Melissa grew up in Warwick, NY and graduated from Warwick High School in 1983 and went on to Orange County Community College, graduating in 1985. She married her high school sweetheart George Normann on June 1, 1985. Melissa then went to East Stroudsburg University where she graduated with a degree in Special Education and later a certificate in Early Childhood Education. She worked at Blairstown School in Blairstown, NJ for several years before becoming a stay at home mom raising her two children. Melissa and her family moved to Plattsburgh in 2016 to be closer to family. She began working at Rulf’s Orchard and later at Schluter Systems as a CNC Operator until her passing. Melissa enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family cycling and crafts. A big focus for her was children and literacy. She is survived by her husband of 35 years George of Plattsburgh, her children; Andrew Normann and his partner Vicky Mogollon of Austin, TX and Bailey Normann and her fiancé Mark Seibel of Sayre, PA, her parents William and Judith Duryea of Paul Smiths, NY, her siblings; William (Mary) Duryea, Jonathon (Diane) Duryea, Timothy (Karen) Duryea, Amanda (Adam Dewbury) Duryea and Rebecca Duryea, several nieces and nephews also survive her.
