Carla A. Duff Obituary

Carla A. Duff Farrell, 57, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2020 in Bangor. She was born March 30, 1963, in Houlton, the daughter of Carl and Mildred (Cassidy) Duff.

Carla had a kind, giving heart and selflessly cared for any family member or friend who needed assistance with meals, medical care or emotional support.  She was a dedicated caregiver to the residents and tenants at Madigan Estates and the Houlton Regional Hospital. Always eager to help others with a listening ear, a meal, an errand, or a task, her nurturing spirit would find her stretched thin, but most would never know it. Carla’s kindness and intuitive nature made her easy to love, and people she loved never navigated a rough road alone because Carla was always there. She was a remarkable wife, sister, aunt, daughter and friend.  She was modest about her vocal talent but enjoyed singing at weddings and with several musical groups in the Houlton area.  Carla especially loved getting all her family together to have a feast in "Carl's Shack" built for her dad, Carl's, fun family gatherings.  "Aunt Larla" loved to dote on all her nieces and nephews and enjoyed watching them grow as she spoiled them a little!  With so much love to give, Carla has left her beloved family and friends with an ache in our hearts, but we are thankfully blessed for having had her in our lives. The ache will never heal, for her selflessness cannot be matched. She will be forever missed.  Carla is survived by her husband, Laurel Farrell. She also leaves behind four brothers, Jim Duff and his wife Eloise of Loxley; Tom Duff and his wife Nancy of Houlton; Dale Duff and his wife Nora of Bangor; and Peter Duff of Bangor. Carla also leaves behind three special aunts: Gail Duff of Hodgdon, Audrey Anderson of South Portland, Sharon Kinney and her husband Larry of Florida along with several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents, Carl and Mildred, she was predeceased by her brother, Dana Duff, and her grandparents, Madeline and John Cassidy, and Olive and Donald Duff.

A graveside service for family and friends will be held November 18 at 11:00 a.m. at the East Hodgdon Cemetery. Arrangements in care of Dunn Funeral Home 11 Park St. Houlton, ME 04730. Online condolences may be expressed on the Tribute Wall at: www.dunnfuneral.com
