Hazel Martin Rowell

MANNING – Hazel Martin Rowell, 79, widow of Leonard Rowell, died Sunday, November 15, 2020, at her home. Born May 20, 1941, in York, she was a daughter of the late Simon Martin and the late Desseree Wisher Parker. She was a member of Restoration Ministries. She is survived by six children, Brenda Baxley (Lonnie) of Hemingway, John Wayne Dennis (Annette) of Manning, Marie Haselden (Sammy) of Johnsonville, Wanda Wingate of Manning, Barbara Denise Dorrell (Randal Wayne) of Alcolu and Teresa D. Mason (James) of Manning; fifteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; three brothers, Paul Martin, Donald Martin (Vicki) and Ronald Martin (Maxine), all of York; two sisters, Virgie Martin of York and Mae Parker Lavender of Pamplico; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Walter Dennis and James Therrell; a son, Donnie Ligon; a daughter, Kathy Smith; and a granddaughter, Shannon Dorrell. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronald Newton officiating, assisted by Rev. Tim Williams. Burial will follow in Clarendon Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Randy Dorrell, Jason Baxley, Danny Baxley, Cody Mason, Keith Wingate and Jessica Dennis. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 550 Manchester Drive, Manning.
