Robert Carlton Sasser

Grantham-Robert Carlton Sasser, 78, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Wayne County on December 21, 1941 and raised in the Patetown Community. Carlton was the son of the late Robert and Sophie Lancaster Sasser. Carlton worked as a painter and retired from O’Berry Center after 30 years of dedicated service. Following his retirement, he could be found working around the house or in his yard where he loved to cut the grass. Family was paramount to Carlton and he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and “Pa.” A service to celebrate Carlton’s life will be held Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Purvis officiating. Interment will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends Wednesday following the service at the cemetery. The family respectfully requests those attending the services to wear a mask and follow social distancing guidelines. Carlton is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy Cotton Sasser; daughters and son-in-law’s, Dawn and John Cox and Carla and Donald Pigg; grandchildren, Wesley Grady (Katie), Samantha Pigg (Brandon), William Pigg, Jessie Pigg, and Robert Cox; sister, Audrey Chase and husband, James; brother, Joe Sasser and wife, Mary; his in-laws, Jerry Cotton, Donna Cotton, Cathy Best, and Jimmy Cotton; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Nevern and Verda Cotton; brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Betty Hinnant; and brother-in-law, Joe Paul Best.
