Janet Kay (Johnson) Ritterling went to live with our Heavenly Father, Thursday November 12, 2020 at Tabitha Health Care Services in Lincoln, NE at the age of 81 years.

Janet was born June 28, 1939 in Webber, Kansas. She was the daughter of Gladys Johannes-Johnson and Keith Raymond Johnson. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in August of 1939 inChester, NE. She was later confirmed at St. John’s on April 26, 1953. Her Confirmation Verse was
Psalms 26:4. Janet attended St. John’s parochial school. She later attended middle and high school at the public school in Chester. She graduated as her class valedictorian in May of 1956. After graduation she worked in the business office of the Superior Creamery in Superior, NE.

Janet met Raymond Ritterling and the two were married April 6, 1958. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage before Raymond was called home in January of 2009. Janet lived most of her married life outside of Byron, NE. They later moved to Deshler in 2007 and enjoyed a couple of years there. After

Raymond’s death she moved to Lincoln, NE in 2010 where she resided until her death.

After raising her two daughters, Janet decided to find local employment at the school cafeteria in Chester where she worked in the kitchen and also took care of the bookkeeping. After the closing of Chester-Hubbell-Byron school she went to work at the cafeteria in Hebron High School and was there till her move to Lincoln.

Janet was a loving and devoted mother to two daughters: Shari Lawton (Steve) of Six Mile, SC, and Vicki Schuman (Lynn) of Lincoln, NE. She was a loving and playful grandmother to four grandchildren: Brittney Becker (Kyle) of Leavenworth, KS, Corbin Lawton (Robin) of Houston, TX, Carrigan Lawton and Adley Lawton both of Six Mile, SC. She also was a caregiver to her daughters’and grandchildrens’ pets.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond, brother Jim Johnson, sister Joyce Boyes.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren, brother Jerry (Pam) Johnson of Shawnee, KS, brother-in-law Robert Boyes of Geneva, NE, and sister-in-law Nancy Johnson of Lincoln, NE. many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be Monday, November 16, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler, NE. Officiant Pastor Joe Love, organist Julia Pohlmann with congregational hymns: “Amazing Grace”, “How Great Thou Art”, and “Just As I Am”. Visitation will be Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Kroll Funeral Home in Deshler from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Casket bearers: Kyle Becker, Corbin Lawton, Lynn Schurman, Steve Lawton, and Bill Mize. Interment at Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Deshler. Memorials may be given to the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation.
