<p>Marlynn Kay Fickes, 78, of Ogallala, passed away Wednesday, November 11th at Indian Hills Nursing Home in Ogallala.</p> <p>Marlynn was born May 4, 1942 in Omaha NE to Colin Kenneth and Winifred (Wilke) Grant.&nbsp;</p> <p>She attended middle school and the first two years of High School in Bitburg Germany, where her father was stationed with the Air Force.&nbsp; She attended Westside High School in Omaha NE her junior and senior years, and graduated from there.&nbsp; She was united in marriage to Wayne David Fickes of Oshkosh NE on February 25th, 1961. They lived in Monroe, MI and Scottsbluff, NE while Wayne served in the Army, then moved to Ogallala in January, 1963 after his discharge, and Wayne went to work at Kersenbrock Drug.&nbsp; In December of 1963, they were blessed with a daughter, Cynthia. Wayne and Marlynn purchased Kersenbrock Drug in July of 1977, and later purchased the property next door and opened The Thoughtful Spot, which Marlynn ran.&nbsp; Wayne and Marlynn sold their businesses in 1999, and Marlynn subsequently went to work at the Guiding Star Girl Scout Council, where she served as Registrar for ten years.&nbsp; Marlynn loved working in her flower garden, Wayne and Marlynn enjoyed seeing the world on cruises, taking around 40 cruises over the years.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>Survivors include one daughter; Cindy (Mark) Marshall, of Ogallala; granddaughter Angie (Moises) Montalvo, of Ogallala; two great-granddaughters, Dilana and Adia Montalvo, of Ogallala; a sister-in-law, Susan Arndt, of Oshkosh, and several nieces and nephews.&nbsp;</p> <p>Marlynn was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 59 years, Wayne, brother, Larry,&nbsp; and two sisters, Ginger and Judy.</p> <p>A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. (C.T.) on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, with Rev. Marlynn Kay Fickes, 78, of Ogallala, passed away Wednesday, November 11th at Indian Hills Nursing Home in Ogallala.

Marlynn was born May 4, 1942 in Omaha NE to Colin Kenneth and Winifred (Wilke) Grant.
