Larry David Cherry, Sr. - McNabb Funeral Home

Larry David Cherry, the second eldest son of Thomas and Imogene Anderson Cherry, born February 9, 1948 in Reyno, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at Randolph Home at the age of 72 surrounded by his family. After graduating Pocahontas High School in 1966, Larry enlisted in the United States Army. As a member of the 101st Airborne, Larry served as a paratrooper in Vietnam; earning a Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and a Vietnam Service Medal. After his discharge from the Army, Larry moved to Brownsville, Texas where he worked as a surveyor. Affectionately known as “Uncle Bay” to his nieces and nephews, Larry taught them a zest for life, love of music and an unconditional devotion to his family. A loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Larry was proceeded in death by his parents, son, Larry David Cherry Jr., brother Thomas Anderson Cherry, sisters Pam Pankey and Brenda Daniel. He leaves behind two children, Heather King of Pocahontas and Bradley Harris of Lynn; one sister, Martha Jones, and one brother, William Cherry, both of Pocahontas. 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and 18 adoring nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 18, 2020 from 12-1 PM in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 1 PM with Eric Moffett officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Nelson Cemetery at Reyno. Honored to serve as pallbearers are his nephews, Heath Jones, Eric Jones, and Leonard Cherry, brother, William Cherry and brother in law, Ricky Jones. To follow the directives of Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, masks covering the mouth and nose are required for all persons in Arkansas for all indoor and outdoor settings, with exposure to non-household members where social distancing cannot be assured. Those attending will also be asked to sign a contact registry and maintain a social distance.
