<p style="text-align: justify;">Roland Dodge Montgomery, 93 of Lisbon, North Dakota died Friday, November 13, 2020 at Maryhill Manor in Enderlin, North Dakota. Rollie was born at home in Cogswell, North Dakota to Roscoe and Marian (Dodge) Montgomery on March 19, 1927. He attended Cogswell Public School &nbsp;through the 9th grade. His family moved to Lisbon, where he finished high school. In 1944, he enlisted in the United States Navy. As he was only 17, his father had to sign for him to join. He served throughout World War II.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">After his honorable discharge, Rollie attended NDSU for one year, then transferred to Michigan State University in Lansing. He married Joan Hanna on December 27, 1948. They moved back to Lisbon, after he received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1952. Rollie and Joan had three children; Bruce, Mary Jo and William. He set up his vet practice, and remained there until his retirement. He served on the North Dakota Veterinarian Board.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Rollie was an elder in the Presbyterian Church, and was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Eagles and the Masonic Lodge. He was active in Boy Scouts, and was on the Lisbon School Board, assisting in the building of the present High School.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Rollie is survived by his children, Bruce (Susan) Montgomery of St Paul, MN, Mary Jo (Don) Smith of Lisbon and Bill (Delilah) Montgomery, also of Lisbon, his grandchildren, Emilie (Richard) Hamilton, Christian Montgomery, James Smith and Joni (Jeff) Sevcik, numerous great grandchildren, his brother Roscoe G (Jackie) Montgomery of Bozeman, MT, sisters, Ruby (Joseph Chiarelli) Harris of Austin, MN and June (Bill) Stewart of Montrose, CO and numerous nieces and nephews.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Rollie was preceded in death by his wife, Joan, parents Roscoe and Marion, and his sisters, Ardith Moore of Forbes, ND and Evelyn Blecha of Tuscon, AZ.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">&nbsp;A memorial service will take place in the spring of 2021, with Military honors.</p>
