Grace Lavonia Childress Wayand, 85, of Hartselle, Alabama passed away peacefully on November 12, 2020. She was born July 1, 1935 to the late Rex and Jessie Childress. She was the first born of eleven children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Andrew Wayand, Sr.; daughter, Alice Marie Wayand; sister, Peggy Nelson and brothers, John Childress, Walter Childress and Michael Childress.

She is survived by her children, Susie (Billy) Green, Ellis (Velvet) Wayand, Jr.,m Tommie (Leah) Wayand and Cindy (Lee) Smith; grandchildren, Kassie (Justin) Carr, Jacob Wayond, Makenzie Smith, Austin Smith, Amanda Ware and Emily (Rhett) York; great-grandchildren, Abby Gail Ware, Gracie Thomas, Jason Carr, Shelby Carr and Haley Carr; sisters, Carolyn Parnell, Betty Beadnell; brothers, Tommy Childress, Ricky Childress and Benny Childress and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and visitations will be held in both Hartselle and Selma, Alabama.

In Heartselle, at Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church; 721 Pickens Street SW, Hartselle, Alabama 35640, on Sunday, November 15, 2020 a visitation will be held from 12:30-2:00 p.m., with funeral services following at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Curtis Shoultz officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home, of Selma directing.

In Selma, on Monday, November 16, 2020 a visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home; 2900 Citizens Parkway, Selma, Alabama 36701. Graveside services will be on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at New Live Oak Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Lee Smith, Austin Smith, Ellis Wayand, Jake Wayne, Tommy Wayand, Justin Carr and Chris Lewis.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Valley in Decatur; 240 Johnston St SE, Decatur, AL 35601 or to Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Grace Wayand Memorial Fund.
