Memorial Services for Russ Foree, age 95, of O'Neill will be at a later date. Russ passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Country Lane Retirement Village in O'Neill. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation. Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill is in charge of arrangements. Charles Russell Foree was born on April 6, 1925 in Lecompton, Kansas to Charles and Jewell (Klamm) Foree. He graduated from Lecompton High School in 1943 where he had excelled in sports, especially football. Russ enlisted in the US Navy on July 1, 1943 and honorably served until July 7, 1946. He then served in the United States Navy Reserve from July of 1946 to June of 1965. Russ married Dorothy Campbell on December 7, 1946 at Topeka, Kansas. To this union, six children were born; Steven, Diane, Patricia, Terence, Curt, and Christopher. Russ worked for a time with his father and brothers installing power lines across the Midwest. The couple then moved to O’Neill Nebraska and ran Foree Tire. Russ worked as a tire man for over 50 years before retiring in the late 1990’s. Russ loved to fly planes. He flew many friends and customers around the area. He was also an avid reader. In his earlier years, Russ was a great sportsman, taking fishing and hunting trips all over the country. He was a member of the Mid-America Tire Dealers Association, the First United Methodist Church in O’Neill, the Aircraft Owners and Pilot Association, and was a Master Mason. Russ is survived by his wife of 73 years, Dorothy Lee Foree of O’Neill; six children, Steven (Jean) Foree, Diane (Kenneth) Heiser, Patricia (Dave Burleson) Foree, Terence (Karen Davis) Foree, Curt Foree, Christopher (Christen) Foree; ten grandchildren; one brother, Bill Foree of Phoenix, Arizona; 16 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Russ was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jeremy Wyatt Foree; three brothers, Harold Foree, Ray Foree, Dale Foree; and an infant sister.
