David Spencer Pate

David Spencer Pate was born on February 14, 1925, in Burns, TN, and died June 28, 2018, at the age of 93. David joined the United States Navy when he was 18 years old, and served our country during World War II, until February of 1946. After his time in the service, David married the late Helen Arnold Pate and raised their 9 kids. David enjoyed hunting and fishing, loved the lord and especially loved his family. He is preceded in death by his parents William Lawson Pate and Mary Cathey Pate, wife Helen Arnold Pate, daughter Mary Ferrell, sons Joe Neil Cunningham, David Harold Pate, 11 brothers and 4 sisters. He is survived by daughters Linda Greene, Brenda Broadbent, Sharon Ervin, Janice (Daniel) Cunningham and Dovie Juanita Smith, son William (Christi) Pate, 19 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson. He is also survived by his son-in-law Joe Ferrell, daughter-in-law Melanie Pate, many nieces and nephews and countless great friends. In honor of David's life, the family invites friends and loved ones for a Visitation Sunday, July 1, 2018, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home. The Service will be Monday, July 2, at 10:00 a.m., in the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Scott Gillam officiating. Interment will follow at Richardson Cemetery in Burns, TN; grandsons and friends will serve as pallbearers.
