Elvina Florence Stearns
<p style="text-align: justify;"><em><span style="font-size:16px;">Elvina was born in Shamrock, Saskatchewan to Jacob and Anna Thiessen. She married Melvin Stearns on April 15, 1960 and celebrated 60 years of marriage this spring. During that time, Elvina and Melvin raised 6 children and have several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Elvina was a great storyteller and held her audience captivate with stories of adventures as a child and a nurse. She loved nature, gardening and reading, but most of all she loved her family and God. On November 5, 2020, Elvina passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. </span></em></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><em><span style="font-size:16px;">Elvina is survived by her husband Melvin Stearns; children Gaylene (Dale) McMullen, Marlene Stearns, Lyndene (Raymond) Hansen, Merlyn Stearns, Terrance Stearns, and Darlene Thiessen; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and siblings Myrtle Davis, Marion McKenzie, and Fran (Bert) Van Bemmel.</span></em></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><em><span style="font-size:16px;">She was predeceased by her parents Jacob and Anna Thiessen; brother Levi Thiessen; and sisters Evelyn Hawes, Bernice Nahorney, Audi Thiessen, and Donetta Thiessen.</span></em></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><em><span style="font-size:16px;">A private family service will be held on Monday, November 16, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ponoka Funeral Home.
