Isabel Margaret Odgaard

It is with great sadness that the family of Isabel Odgaard announces her passing after a lengthy illness on Monday, November 9, 2020, at the age of 94 years.

Born in Saunders Creek, she was the second oldest of 6 children to Molly and Evariste L'Hirondelle.  The family moved to Ponoka in 1941 where Isabel made many special friendships in the community. She was also a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 66, White Caners and volunteered at the Drop-in Center. 

Besides being with family, Isabel loved dancing and danced well into her 90’s; she also enjoyed getting together with her friends for a game of cards or dice.

Isabel will be lovingly remembered by her children Carol (Gary), Larry (Alaine), Dwayne (Lana), Brian (Tracey), and Shaunna (Clark); her grandchildren Leanne (Matt), Darrell (Helen), Debbie, Jolene, Joshua (Stephanie), Courtney (David), Jesse (Charlene), Chelsea (Mitch), Dylan, Brody, Chantal, and Brenden; her great-grandchildren Colton (Erin), Levi (Summer), Brittany (Reid), Dustin (Maggie), Andrew, Matthew, Jacob, Joseph, Zachary, Theodore, Harlyn, Felix, Adelaide, and Brighton; and her great-great grandchildren Annabelle, Elliot and Myles.

She will also be lovingly remembered by special friends Brian and Narda McLeod.

Isabel was predeceased by her first husband John Blyth in 1966, her second husband of 47 years Holger Odgaard in 2007, and her very special friend Don McLeod in 2018.

She is survived by her sister Ethel Schimpf of Ponoka and brother Russell L’Hirondelle of Calgary and numerous nieces and nephews and their spouses and children.

A private family service will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. and there will be a public Celebration of Life at a later date.
