Leona M. "Morrissey" Sargent

<div>Leona M. Sargent, age 86, resident of Brownville, passed away January 7th at home with family present. She was born October 4, 1924 in the Town of Greig. She was the daughter of the late Frederick and Della Walker Morrissy. She graduated from General Martin High School, Glenfield in 1942 and Mercy School of Nursing in 1948 under the U.S. Cadet Nurses Corp; authorized by Congress during World War 11. She worked at Mercy Hospital for 33 years, mostly as Supervisor of the Operating Room, retiring in 1981. She is survived by husband Billy C. Sargent of Brownville whom she married April 17, 1948 in Watertown, one daughter Pamela and husband John A. Lucidi of Dexter. Two grandchildren, John Lucidi and wife Michelle and great grandchildren Olivia, Jack, and William of Windham,N.H. and Nicole and husband Dawson McDermott and great grandchildren Adelaide and Madelyn of Whitesboro, N.Y. She is also survived by one brother Franklin Morrissey of Vernon and one sister Isabelle Woolschlager of Lowville and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one daughter Adelaide and two sisters Gladys Bramhall and Evelyn Hill. Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4-7 P.M. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter with funeral services to immediately follow. Burial will be in the spring at Grove Cemetery, LaFargeville. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Hospiice of Jefferson County, 425 Washington St., Watertown, N.Y. 13601.</div><br>
