John DeCovelo Obituary

John DeCovelo, 80 years old of Edison passed away peacefully with his loving wife at his side on Tuesday, November 3rd at Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in New Brunswick. He was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey and resided in Edison his whole life, where he was a communicant of Saint Matthews RC church. He was a Heavy Equipment Operator with Local 825 Operating Engineers retiring in 2004. He is predeceased by his parents, Charles & Lena DeCovelo; his brothers, Patsy, Jimmy and his sisters, Nancy, Nettie, Jenny, Anna, Josie, Katy, & Rosalie. He is survived by "The Love of His Life", his wife of 54 years JoAnn (Shuboney); his sister, Connie Bomenka of Edison; his brother, Rocco & his wife Rose of Ventura California; his sister & brother-in-law, Patricia & Bruce Lankford of Edison; many, many nieces & nephews who he loved and adored with all of his heart- He was their "Unkie" and they were his treasures! John was so proud of the beautiful life he made for us, always worked so hard to keep our home just perfect, he was one of the most giving, generous, strong, loving, funny, & caring men that God ever put on this earth! John had a passion for antique cars, playing the lottery, working in his yard, and sitting on his front porch swing, but his most personal passion at the end of the day was spending quality time with his family & friends. John was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was always happy and always loyal to everyone in his life. If you needed help John was there in a heartbeat no matter what! He loved and lived life to the fullest and will be deeply missed by all who were so lucky to have had him in their lives! John would want everyone to "Smile" when they think of him and to remember him smiling right back! He would want us all to keep him tucked deep within our hearts and not grieve but to celebrate the amazing life that God gave him! There was a special and most beautiful place waiting for him, rest easy "Johnny D" till we meet again! I will love you always!
