Veryl Jeanette Key Obituary

Veryl passed away on October 30, 2020 peacefully in her home, with her family by her side. Veryl was born on July 17, 1940 in Hubbard, Oregon, to Ewald and Elva Susee. Veryl grew up as a Catholic and went to church every day of grade and High School in Mt. Angel, Oregon. She was beautiful and when she was in her twenties, everyone said she looked like Jacquelyn Kennedy, only prettier. Veryl married the love of her life, Dale, on October 18, 1958 in Mt. Angel, Oregon. They shared 62 wonderful years of marriage together. They fell in the love the moment they met and never looked back. They had two sons, Randall and Rodney Key. They had an awesome marriage and neither one of them would have changed a thing. One of their secrets to 62 long years is the promises they made to one another the day Dale proposed. One of the ones that they practiced up until the day Veryl passed, was to never go to bed mad at each other, while telling each other sorry if they were wrong that day and forgiving the other, if they were wrong. And it was always sealed with a kiss. She was a self-made chef, everyone loved her food, she had a special knack of knowing exactly what a dish needed (spice) by taste. Everyone in the family wanted her recipes, and for the most part she didnt have one. A scratch cook that raised most of her own vegetables with Dales help, they were/are known for their garden abilities in La Pine, Oregon, especially their potatoes, cabbage, carrots and garlic. Veryl loved being outdoors; she loved camping, hunting and fishing; she always caught the most and the biggest fish. She bagged three Elk and five deer. She always tried to keep the property clean and full of flowers. She loved her family, all of them with all her heart and would do anything for them. Their 14-year-old great granddaughter flew in from Oklahoma to be by her side. She also loved all infants and babies, she will be missed at Costco, because she just had to see the babies smile. It always too an extra hour to do their shopping. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dale, son, Randall, brother, Mark, sister, Kathleen, and sisters-in-law, Sandra and Delaina. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Rodney, brothers, Dennis and Daniel and sister-in-law, Martha. Veryl will was loved by all and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The Key family would like to thank Partners In Care Hospice of Bend, Oregon and Baird Memorial Chapel of La Pine, Oregon, for taking such good care of Veryl. In lieu of flowers, please donate to, St. Jude Childrens Hospital in her name at www.stjude.org/give.html.
