Herbert Howard Korn “Herby”, 89, of Boca Raton, died November 9, 2020 in Boca Raton. Funeral was held on November 12, 2020 at the Gardens of Boca. Virtual shiva was held on November 15, 2020. Mr. Korn was born on September 8, 1931, in Brooklyn, New York to Reuben and Faye (Goldman) Korn. Herby grew up in Brooklyn playing basketball and became an Eagle Scout, and spent his summers in the Catskills where he spotted his future wife Bunny. He graduated from Erasmus High School in 1947. He continued his education at Syracuse University and graduated in 1953 with a degree in business. He worked for many years in the electrical supply industry, first for Williamsburg Electric, where he worked alongside his father. Eventually, Herby moved to Long Island and opened his own business, Long Island Electric, where he was well known and respected for many years in the industry. He was a third generation Korn in the electrical supply business. Herby had a larger than life personality, made friends easily and maintained his friendships throughout his life. He enjoyed playing tennis, golf, gin rummy, texas hold’em and playing Connect 4 with his family. His interests included: building and racing model boats, collecting sports memorabilia, stamps and coins. He enjoyed his family, going to the movies and getting together for dinner on Tuesday nights with “the boys”. Herby is survived by his wife, Bunny Korn; son Brett Korn, daughters Ylana Wolf (Ronald), and Nicole Hewitt (Brian); 9 grandchildren, Alexandra, Mackenzie, Jared, Hayley, Harrison, Emerson, Sam, Caroline and Peyton; and his sister, Roberta Rinzler. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Reuben and Faye Korn, and daughter-in-law Lori Korn (Mendel). Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.thegardens.com.
