John Edward Ball, 83, of Faith, peacefully passed away at his home Tuesday morning, November 10, 2020, following a period of declining health.

Born April 4, 1937, in Mecklenburg County, John was a son of the late Gwynn Franklin and Alda Irene Sloop Ball.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Gwynn Franklin Ball, Jr. and Gregory Allen Ball, and his son-in-law, Donnie Upright.

John had honorably served his country with the US Air Force and retired after more than 30 years of loyal service from The Industrial Electric Company of Charlotte, where he was an electrician supervisor. Mr. Ball enjoyed car shows, riding his motorcycle, Tar Heel basketball and NASCAR. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family members include his devoted wife of 66 years, Kathleen Measmer Ball; his children, Johnny Ball (Daphne), Kathy Ball Upright, Bobby, Amy and Benny Ball; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a much loved uncle, Lewis Ball.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 pm Friday, November 13th, at Whitley’s Funeral Home.  Funeral services to remember and celebrate the life of Mr. Ball will begin at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Pastor Bob Harvey.  Mr. Ball will be laid to rest at Carolina Memorial Park following the funeral service.
