Martin Gilbert Oen, 94, Georgetown, Texas died there on November 7, 2020. Gil was born to Gilbert and Clara Gaardsmoe Oen in Minot on March 22, 1926. He graduated from Minot High School in 1944. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in math and science from Minot State Teachers College and a Master’s degree in education from the University of North Dakota in 1965. He began his teaching career in Upham and moved to Willow City in 1953 where he taught science, mathematics, and music until 1974. After he retired from teaching he was the manager at the Willow City Farm Supply. He was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Willow City and other community organizations. He had married Myrna Kirkeide on June 4, 1949. In 2006 they moved to Havre, Montana and later he moved to Texas. He is survived by their three children, Marlyne Reinke, Georgetown, Texas, Linda Pan – Los Angeles, California and Paul – Perth, Australia. He also leaves 8 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife on January 16, 2010. A graveside service will be held at the Willow City Memorial Park Cemetery later this month.
