Robert W. Churchill Obituary

Robert (“Bob”) Churchill of Highland Park, Illinois, passed away on November 10, 2020. He was born on March 29, 1928 in Buffalo, New York, to Harold George and Violet Ackerman Churchill. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; son, Carl; and daughter, Kelly. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberley (Simon) Feuz; son, Kevin (Mary Ann); five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Bob served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II as a radio operator. He met Helen, who also served her country, at a social club for veterans in Chicago. They made their long-time home in greater Chicago and settled in Highland Park. Building upon his military training, Bob worked as an audio/visual engineer for decades and was a member of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers and the Society of Broadcast Engineers, spending many years with Roscor Corp. before retiring to spend more time with his beloved Helen. Having lost two children of their own to childhood illnesses, they had a gift for connecting with children of all ages—Bob frequently played Santa at the Christmas party for his church congregation. Helen and Bob were married for 60 years and considered their family to be their greatest accomplishment. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Humanitarian Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at philanthropies.churchofjesuschrist.org.
