Clarence COLLINS

It is with sadness that the family of Clarence Albert Collins announce his passing on November 9, 2020 at the age of 89.

Clarence was born on October 17, 1931 in Rosetown to parents Charles and Isabella Collins.  He received his primary education at Albermarle country school and his high school education in Rosetown.  He convocated with a degree from the College of Agriculture at the University of Saskatchewan in the spring of 1954. In the fall of 1954, he married Darlene Pfeifer, a high school classmate.  In January of 1955, they made their home in Rosetown where Clarence started a fuel business with both a gas station and a bulk farm fuel operation.  In the 1970s, he expanded his business to include fertilizer and crop protection products and in 1980, partnered with Jack Lamborn to open up Greenfield Agro Services Ltd.  Clarence dedicated over 40 years to the business community of Rosetown. Agriculture was also a big part of Clarence’s life.  In addition to his post-secondary training and his agribusiness operations, Clarence started farming in 1975 when he took over the operation of the family farm south of Rosetown. 

Over the years, Clarence was actively involved in the community.  He was very active with the Kinsmen and K40s, as well as a member of the Minor Athletic Association and local curling club, where he held office in each organization.  He was also a Past Master of the Rosetown Masonic Lodge.

Clarence and Darlene were inseparable and enjoyed time together travelling to Europe, Mexico and several of the States.  Following retirement, they overwintered in Arizona with their many friends and spent the summers at the family cabin at Delorme Beach - where many memories were made.  The family celebrated Clarence and Darlene’s 65th wedding anniversary this past November 20th. 

Clarence is survived by his loving wife Darlene (née Pfeifer) and his children:  daughter Tracy Dollansky (Wayne) and their children Steven (Kristen and great-grandson Bennett) and Lisa Droessler (Mark) and his son Brent (Cheryl) and their children daughter Teegan (Aaron) and son Reid.  Also surviving Clarence is his brother Alvin Collins (Mary) and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Clarence was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Merna Jones and Darlene McHardy.

Family was of most importance to Clarence.  He cherished his wife, children, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren and especially his great-grandson Bennett who brought him such joy.  Our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather will be dearly missed.

The family wishes to send sincere thanks to the staff at Orange Memories Care Home in Rosetown for the compassionate care provided to Clarence during the past several months. 

A private family service was held at Shanidar Chapel, 2:00 p.m. on November 14, 2020 with Reverend Allan Gairns officiating. Committal followed at Rosetown Roselawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be sent to: Alex Ositis Foundation Inc. at Box 1251 in Rosetown, SK S0L 2V0.
