On February 3, 1926, Lillian was born in an adobe duplex house in rural New Mexico near what is now Arrey, New Mexico. It was unusually cold and damp the night Lillian was to arrive. Her father James had to travel about twenty miles in a buggy over dirt roads to the nearest doctor. Upon arriving he found the doctor already inebriated and ready for bed. By the time James got the good doctor in shape to travel and upon arriving home, Lillian had already been delivered with the help of her grandmother and a neighbor lady. The relieved doctor signed the birth certificate, pronounced her a healthy baby and was driven home. Lillian graduated from Perkins High School in 1945. She then attended Oklahoma A&M graduating with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education in 1950. Lillian was a teacher in the Ponca City School system for over forty years in which she taught many students who later became life-long friends. Several years after school was dismissed for the summer, Lillian and her sister-in-law Jackie Davis, would travel to Yellowstone National Park where her brother Edwin Dale worked, to spend the summer and have many fun adventures. Lillian loved teaching and loved to interact with people, she enjoyed reading, enjoyed bible study, Sunday school and serving at Sunset Baptist Church. She loved packing Christmas Child shoe boxes every year.
