Christine "Chris" Rachel Obituary

Christine “Chris” Rachel, 87, of Crossett died Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at the South Arkansas Medical Center in Eldorado.  She was born on February 26, 1933, to her parents, Jimmy and Dora Burnett Sims.  Chris was a member of Grace Christian Fellowship for over 50 years, worked for Alltel as a telephone operator for 10 years, and for several years cooked for the Angels About Tea Room.

Chris was a good Christian lady who loved her church and was committed to sharing the love of Jesus Christ with her family.  She was outspoken but had a soft side, and if you were lucky enough to be one of her favorites, then you were set.

She enjoyed growing vegetables, working in her flower beds, and playing dominos, but especially loved fishing, and always ready to go at the drop of a hat.

Chris is preceded in death by her parents, and the love of her life, Ray Rachel.

She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Hoover (Kevin) of Monticello; one brother, James Earl Sims (Frances) of Bastrop, LA; three grandchildren, Brandi Hood (Bert), and Derek Beatty (Justine) both of Pine Bluff, and Jacob Hoover (Melissa) of Fountain Hill; and three great-grandchildren, Mallory Hood, Jase Hoover, and Eliza Jane Beatty; along with one great-great-grandchild, Lance Hood.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 13, at Bonita Road Baptist Church Cemetery in Bastrop, LA with Bro. Jeremy Mills officiating, under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.  Pallbearers are Kevin Hoover, Jacob Hoover, Derek Beatty,Matt, Brooks, Damon Dean, and Josh Hartley
