<p>Cecil &ldquo;Spike&rdquo; Bennett, 93, of Falls City, NE, passed November 9, 2020 at Topeka, KS. He was born May 21, 1927 at Falls City to Sherm and Goldie (Mullins) Bennett.</p> <p>He married Jean Kosar on June 2, 1950.</p> <p>Spike was raised at Falls City and attended Falls City Public Schools. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy and when discharged he returned to work at Brown Shoe Fit Company, Coca Cola/7-Up distributing company, Falls City Manufacturing making Sunset Trailers, was a bookkeeper at Skelly Service Station for Jack Cooper and delivered propane for Amtane Propane. He was a member of Falls City Junior Chamber, Falls City Jaycees, earning Outstanding Young Man of the Year in 1962, American Legion Post #102. He also helped start the Easter Egg Hunt and Summer Recreation.&nbsp; He was instrumental in starting the American Legion Baseball Program and coached for many years.&nbsp; He enjoyed coyote hunting, making outdoor crafts and Nebraska football.</p> <p>Spike is survived by his wife, Jean of Falls City, children, Toni Buckminster of Falls City, Steve and his wife Tammy of Lawrence, KS, grandchildren, Tracy Dlouhy and her husband Marty of Garland, NE, Jenn Uher and her husband Matt of Lincoln, NE, Becky Gossman and her husband David of Falls City, Logan Bannister and his wife Laurel of Roeland Park, KS, great-grandchildren, Delaney, Krayten and Kynlee Uher, Dawson and Maclayne Dlouhy, Tessa and Conner Gossman. He was preceded in death by his parents.</p> <p>A Private Graveside Service will be held at Steele Cemetery and a memorial service will be planned later in the spring.&nbsp;</p>
