Dorothy Marie Sandberg

Services were private for Dorothy Marie Sandberg, of Brick, who passed peacefully into eternal rest on October 29th following a brief illness. Dorothy was born in Elizabeth on April 22, 1921 to William and Agnes Andrus. She was raised in Roselle and graduated from Abraham Clark High School in 1940. During World War II she worked at General Motors in Linden helping to make aircrafts for the war effort. She married her husband Alvin who was serving in the Navy on October 8, 1944. Dorothy also worked at Newark Airport and for the National Telephone Directory Corporation in Union before retiring and moving to Brick in 1978. She loved to garden and was an accomplished artist who enjoyed painting and ceramics. She also sewed and made beautiful costumes and clothing for her grandchildren. Visiting the beach and boardwalk in Point Pleasant was another favorite activity. She spent many happy times there with her family. She was a devoted wife to her husband of 54 years Alvin Glenn Sandberg and a kind, loving mother and grandmother. She is predeceased by her husband, granddaughter Patricia and sister Florence Hull. Surviving are a son Alvin and a grandson Richard both of Brick and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
