Obituary

Margaret Elizabeth Brown “Margie”, 66, of Rock Hill, SC and formerly of Sumter, SC, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, November 2, 2020. She was born April 3, 1954 in Hampton, VA.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert William Brown and Bobbie Jean Leonard Brown of Sumter, SC, formerly of Greensboro, NC.

Being a child of the Air Force, Margie moved around the United States growing up but found her greatest friendships with her classmates at Victor Valley High School in Victorville, CA. She loved coming back to the east coast and visiting family, where her grandparents had a farm in Bennett, NC. She was a devoted daughter and moved to be with her family in SC, where she cared for her parents and built a career in accounting. Margie loved to be surrounded with family and hosted siblings, cousins, nieces, and nephews for summer holidays and Christmas vacations. Her holiday baking was something she took great joy in and her treats became famous among family and friends.

Her greatest joy was in being a Mimi, and she moved to Rock Hill to be with her daughter and precious “babies.” Most important to her was her family and she will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

She leaves a lasting legacy to be cherished by her survivors, daughter Blythe Brettelle Morrison, and husband Jonathan of Rock Hill, SC; grandchildren Chase Morrison, Brieanna Morrison, Emily Morrison, and Luke Morrison; brother Charles Brown and wife Jackie of Virginia Beach, VA; brother Carl Brown and wife Kaye of North Augusta, SC; sister Victoria Cartee of Jacksonville Beach, FL; 3 nephews, 3 nieces, 3 great-nephews, and 5 great-nieces, and a host of cousins whom she all loved dearly.

A gathering of friends and family will be held Saturday November 14th from 2-3:30pm at Bass Cauthen Funeral Home in Rock Hill, SC.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all the staff at Piedmont Medical Center; the nurses, physicians, and hospice staff for their unwavering and compassionate care. Your kindness will never be forgotten. They would also like to thank their many friends, the staff at Northside Elementary School of the Arts, and their family at Grace Collective Church for their support and love during this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the COPD Foundation, Parkinson’s Foundation, or Arthritis National Research Foundation.
