Linda Sue Margaret Catucci Obituary

Linda Sue (Walentukonis) Catucci, 70, of Plainville, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2020 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain, the same hospital where she was born on March 24, 1950. Linda was a nurse, an occupational change at age 60 that she took on later in life, proving that you are never too old to get an education. She was an expert stained-glass artisan and taught many students her craft. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, Marcus and Laura, and most recently she had a new favorite, her great-granddaughter, Kara. She was a huge animal lover, always willing to talk about her three cats, Prance, Freddy and the late Fluffy.

Linda loved talking and learning about her family history. Her father, William Walentukonis, was born to immigrant parents, his father from Lithuania, his mother from Poland. She was extremely proud that her father was a veteran of WWII, having been wounded just days before the end of the war. Her mother, Jean Noyes, had deep roots in New England and was directly descended from five Mayflower passengers. Her travels took her as far as China, but she was content with a good book and knitting at home. She also loved M&Ms and her Mini-Cooper.

Linda is survived by her brother, Peter Walentukonis, her two sons, Michael and Marcus McClellan, her “daughters”, Yvonne Hickey and Kimberly McClellan, her grandchildren, Marcus and Laura Cyr, her great-granddaughter, Kara Muller, her favorite uncle, Russell Noyes, along with many other family and friends that were dear to her heart. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Bonnie Lee Walentukonis in 2005.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Brian Byrne, his staff, and all the staff at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain for the excellent care that was given to Linda during her battles with cancer.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at any local animal shelter in Linda’s name.
