Mary Grunewaldt

Mary Grunewaldt, 97, of Faulkton, passed away Friday, November 6, 2020 at the Faulkton Senior Living. Funeral services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. She attended school in the Faulkton area and graduated Orient High School. She married Leo Grunewaldt April 9, 1944. Mary was a quiet lady of deep faith, devoted to her family and caring for her garden and farm. She was an active member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Orient SD, serving many years on the Altar Society and CDA. Mary is survived by children Kathy Sarutzki of Sioux Falls, David (Doris) Grunewaldt of Ashton, Michael (Nancy) Grunewaldt of Miranda, Lorraine (Michael) Fernandes of Bigfork, MT, Lois (Tim) Tankersley of Amarillo, TX. Additional survivors include her brother Francis Church of Aberdeen, sister, Kathryn Medar of Phoenix, AZ and brother Dick Church of Faulkton. Other survivors include seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Preceding Mary in death was her husband Leo, her parents George Brown and Sybilla Brown Church, son James, son in law Bob Sarutzki, brothers Joe Brown, Clarence Brown, and Pat Church. The family wishes to acknowledge the love and care given to Mary in her last few years by the staff of The Meadows and Faulkton Senior Living. Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Mary’s arrangements.
