David Martin Glendale, Arizona Obituary

David Martin

David Martin aka Dave and Iceman, age 57 passed away on October 25, 2020 after a courageous fight with cancer. David was the youngest son of Crystal Martin. David was born in and lived a good part of his life in Chicago, Illinois. He married Cherrie Elder (Carol) in 1983. He and Cherrie welcomed their daughter Waverley to the family in 1995. The Martins relocated to the Phoenix area in 1998 to focus on raising their only child, Waverley. From a very early age David recognized the ring of truth of God’s word, studied the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses, and became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in June of 1979. He faithfully served Jehovah in various privileges of service – regular pioneer, ministerial servant and elder. David made his secular career as a banker; always concentrating on millions of dollars and never concerned with pennies:-) His co-workers considered him a kind man with a big heart. His strengths were in his ability to see beyond the obvious and dig deeper into a person or a situation. Cherrie and Waverley were always amazed that he was always right. Dave enjoyed decorating, watching cooking shows (and imitating some of those same recipes on his Friday exhibition cooking nights), music, shopping and of course he loved watches and wearing bowties. Dave looked forward to the time when, under the administration of God’s Kingdom, Jehovah God will transform the earth into a paradise— a paradise with no suffering. He enjoyed sharing this hope of a trouble- free paradise with others, as well as the Biblical teaching that all those who pass away before God’s promised paradise arrives, would be in a sleep-like state waiting to be awakened by our Lord, Christ Jesus to enjoy life in an earthly paradise. John 5:28-29. David was a loving husband, father, son, and friend and will be greatly missed by his family and the many friends who considered him their brother. Just as he did in good health, Dave relied on his God Jehovah as he battled cancer;enduring immense pain and sleepless nights until his last day. We all love you Dave and miss you. A Private Memorial service will be held at a later date.
