DAVID GALE DAVIS SILSBEE, TEXAS: David Gale Davis, age 78, passed away at 12:45 pm, at Baptist Hospital, Beaumont, TX following an illness. Gale was born January 11, 1942 in Joplin, MO. His parents were David Ralph and Ruth Maxine (Wade) Davis. Gale graduated from Galena (KS) High School with the class of 1959. He then entered the U S Air Force for 5 years. Upon discharge, he returned to Galena and earned a BS Degree in Business. He reenlisted in the Air Force, retiring after a total of 20 years of service. He lived in Cabot AR for 25 years before moving to Texas in October 2003. While at Cabot, he worked for the Arkansas Democrat newspaper as a rural subscription collector. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Kountze TX. He enjoyed woodworking projects and was an avid St Louis Cardinals fan. Gale was married to Norma Lee Watson on Feb 13, 1965 in Galena, KS. She survives. Additional survivors include one son, David Chris Davis (Tanya), Kountze, TX; two daughters, Penny Gayle Newland (Donald), Vientiane, Laos, and Laura Cooke (Jim), Providence, RI; one brother, Roger Davis (Judy), Galena, KS; and two grandchildren, James Cooke and Colin Cooke. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Danny Davis, and two sisters, Janice Murray and Beverly Davis. Graveside services will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, KS. Blaine Nordstrom will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS.
