Obituary

Walter Kurtz
April 9, 1929 - November 6, 2020

After a courageous battle to remain with us, the family of Walter Kurtz sadly announce his peaceful passing in the wee hours of the night on November 6, 2020, at the age of 91 years.
Walter’s life was full and savored.  He worked hard and proudly on the family farm west of Millet (Porto Bello) for many years.  When Clara and Walter moved into Wetaskiwin to both semi-retire, Walter joined a large following of early morning coffee drinkers which would become tradition over the next forty years.  Conversations about family, frequent trips to B.C., fishing at the lake, and of course politics were always on the agenda.
Walter is survived by his step-daughter, Carol Carbol; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Carbol; six sisters, Hilda (Ed) Karlo, Toni Fibick, Margaret Forth, Elsie Feldberg, Lily (Howard) Smith and Eleanor Pydde; five cherished grandchildren and six great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Walter is predeceased by his parents, Emil and Amelia; wife, Clara; step-son, Wayne Carbol, and four brothers-in-law.
Much thanks to all the wonderful care-givers at the Good Shepherd Home and to the Angels at the Wetaskiwin Hospital during his finals days.
A celebration of Walters’ life will be announced at a later date when we can all gather again and honor all that was important to him.
