Larry John Lappe, 78, passed November 4, 2020 at the Hospice Center in Great Falls.  Larry was born to John and Thelma Lappe in Pierre, South Dakota on November 25, 1942.  Larry attended school at the country school in Sully and the Huron school system in South Dakota.  He was drafted in the military in 1964 and discharged 1966.  Most of his military time was spent Okinawa, Japan.  In August 1967, Larry married Rita Bierman.  They had two sons, Kevin and Kenneth, and the family lived in Faulkton, South Dakota.

Larry moved to Chester in 1978 and worked building the spillway at Tiber Dam.  He formed many friendships and remained in Chester after the project was completed.  He continued to work for families in the area and found enjoyment in bowling and hunting. Since 2000, you could find Larry at The Grand either tending to it or caught up in an afternoon pan game with the boys.  Larry enjoyed watching the PBR and could tell you every riders’ information. He loved gardening and canning from which the community reaped the benefits of his harvests.

Larry is survived by his two sons, his granddaughter, Jackie Wrynn; sister, Jeanette; and brother, Donald.  Larry was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister.
